Tossable Digits, run by Telusion, Inc., sells virtual phone numbers that forward calls and send text messages, billed monthly or annually. Month to month there is a pay-as-you-go option at $3.49 per number and $0.12 per minute with nothing included, then Basic at $7 (1 number, 60 minutes), Advanced at $19 (3 numbers, 400 minutes) and Professional at $39 (7 numbers, 1,000 minutes).

Annual plans are Lite at $40 a year (1 number, 25 minutes a month), Basic at $80 (2 numbers, 75 minutes), Advanced at $209 (3 numbers, 400 minutes) and Professional at $429 (7 numbers, 1,000 minutes). Extra US or Canada numbers cost $3.49, $2.99, $2.19 or $1.49 a month and extra minutes $0.12, $0.10, $0.07 or $0.04, falling as the plan goes up.

Included numbers, minutes and SMS apply to US and Canadian numbers only; numbers in other countries are billed monthly outside the plans, from $3.99 a month for many countries up to $46.99 for Saint Martin. US toll-free numbers are available but not included, and toll-free SMS costs $0.02 per message. The page says pro-rated refunds are not provided on annual plans. Account creation and checkout were not tested by us. Plans change, so check the live price on their site before you buy.

Included minutes cover calls forwarded to US or Canada numbers only, and international forwarding is billed at separate rates. Annual plans get no pro-rated refund.

What Tossable Digits does

Virtual phone numbers in the US, Canada and many other countries that forward calls to your own phone and send personal text messages, billed monthly or yearly.

Advanced when you need three numbers

Every plan has all features; the plans differ in included numbers and minutes. Basic's 60 minutes and one number suit a parked number. Advanced adds 3 numbers and 400 minutes and drops the cost of extra minutes from $0.10 to $0.07. Professional's 7 numbers and 1,000 minutes make sense only if you really use that many; the per-minute rate then falls to $0.04. Count your forwarded minutes before choosing an annual plan, because annual plans are not refunded pro rata.
